The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged President Bola Tinubu to start preparing his handover note, saying that Nigerians cannot renew his mandate.
The Organising Secretary of the Adamawa State chapter of the PDP, Hamza Madagali, speaking on Friday in Yola, at the party’s state secretariat, said Nigerians had run out of patience to accommodate the present administration in 2027.
He said that the All Progressive Congress (APC) government had demonstrated a lack of vision and direction of what democracy stood for in the country.
Hamza stated that the APC-designed policies are “human and economic unfriendly”, adding that Nigerians were ready to end the leadership of the present government, come 2027.
He said the recent successes recorded during the PDP Ward Congress in Adamawa State were signals that the unity in the party could earn it victory during the general elections.
“If you look at the membership of the National Convention committees, it is clear that the days of the APC are numbered at the presidency.
“Nigerians are wiser now; they now know the difference between original and fake. So, they cannot afford to gamble with the future of their children, and the only way out is to return the PDP back to power, “he said.
Reacting to the statement, an APC chieftain, Seye Oladejo, dismissed the PDP’s chances of unseating President Tinubu.
He said that more people were leaving the PDP every day.
Oladejo stated, “I agreed that he should, but he should be handing over to himself again as the president after the 2027 elections. PDP is just a party that exists on paper.
“In whichever way, the party is gone. A party that recently zoned its tickets not minding the provision of the 1999 Constitution as amended, and later they said they had made it open. It is not a party to take seriously. Talk is cheap. The 2027 elections will be the final days of the PDP.”
