As Nigerians await a unified opposition party for 2027, questions surrounding the Peter Obi coalition dominate political discussions.
Award-winning journalist David Hundeyin described Peter Obi as the biggest uncertainty threatening opposition efforts to challenge APC power.
Hundeyin claimed Obi’s failure to clearly declare his political intentions undermines efforts to form a cohesive opposition coalition.
He warned that Peter Obi’s indecision could fracture the opposition again, just like it happened in the 2023 elections.
He suggested that Obi might delay announcing his candidacy until too late, ultimately splitting opposition support once again.
Reacting to the concerns, Ibrahim Abdulkarim, an insider in the Obidient Movement, addressed the coalition’s current progress and future plans.
He revealed the Peter Obi coalition decision will be publicly announced by Wednesday morning, ending months of political speculation.
Abdulkarim confirmed all support groups have been mobilized across Nigeria, especially focusing on youth engagement and northern voter education.
He praised Obi’s leadership, stating his coalition involvement prioritizes improving Nigerians’ lives over gaining power for personal reasons.
According to Abdulkarim, four political options were evaluated, but forming a solid Peter Obi coalition remains the top priority.
He said supporters should remain calm and patient, promising that the final platform announcement will make them proud.
Another Obidient leader, Morris Monye, confirmed preparations are complete and the official political platform will be made public this week.
Monye assured Nigerians that Peter Obi is fully committed to the coalition’s success and long-term national transformation goals.
Political observers believe this coalition could reshape the 2027 race if unified under a clear, credible and popular opposition platform.
