The Delta State Police Command has successfully intercepted a group of 12 suspected armed robbers who were planning their next criminal activity. Acting swiftly, officers apprehended the suspects as they were preparing for the heist, recovering an assortment of weapons and tools intended for the crime.
According to the police, the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb rising crime in the state. The arrest was made possible by timely intelligence, allowing the police to strike before the suspects could execute their plan. Among the items seized were an English pistol, a long double-barrel gun, a locally made cut-to-size gun, and several cutlasses, all of which the criminals intended to use in their robbery.
In a video released by the police, two of the suspects admitted to scaling fences to enter homes during their robberies. They revealed that many of their past successful operations were facilitated by victims neglecting basic security precautions, particularly leaving doors unlocked at night. This confession highlights a significant vulnerability in home security.
SP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, emphasized the importance of residents taking security seriously. He urged the public to ensure that their homes are properly secured by locking doors, especially at night. This simple precaution could prevent criminals from gaining easy access to homes and protect families from potential harm.
