In response to a reported fight between members of the Oyo State Police Command and the Oyo State Traffic Management Authority (OYTMA), Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has ordered a thorough investigation into the death of 14-year-old Kehinde Alade in Oyo State.
The IGP called the tragedy “tragic and deeply regrettable” in a statement issued by Force Headquarters in Abuja. In addition to confirming that the officer suspected of carrying out the deadly shot has been arrested, he gave the public his word that the investigation would be open and transparent.
According to the statement, the investigation process will be process transparent, and the outcome will be publicised.
It was revealed that the police leadership extended its condolences to the family of the deceased.
The Force restated its dedication to safeguarding people and property and urged Nigerians to uphold the law while resolving any complaints in a civilised and legal manner.
