Police Confirm Oyo PDP Chieftain’s Release By Gunmen

The Oyo State Police Command has officially confirmed the release of Chief Benedict Akika, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Akika was abducted from his residence in Olorunda on September 4, 2024. His release came after a thorough and extensive search operation involving multiple states.

According to reports from LEADERSHIP, Akika was freed on the evening of September 11, 2024, following a coordinated effort by the police. This effort included searching various states such as Ogun, Ondo, and Edo.

SP Adewale Osifeso, the Public Relations Officer for the Oyo State Police Command, provided an update on the situation. He confirmed that Chief Akika was safely released late Wednesday evening. Once his medical evaluation is complete, he will be reunited with his family, who have been anxiously awaiting his return.
