A couple, Joshua Bogbon Godwell and his wife, Uche Joshua, have been arrested by operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team of the Delta State Police Command for their alleged involvement in gun running.
The arrest was made possible by credible intelligence, which led the police to storm their residence in Okpe Local
Government Area on March 9, 2025.
During the raid, the police recovered a fabricated Beretta pistol with a single live round, which was meant for delivery
to a client in Sapele. The wife, Uche Joshua, confessed to being the dispatcher of illegal arms for her husband and
revealed that she had delivered several arms to various clients within Warri and Sapele.
The arrest of the couple led to the arrest of another suspect, Junior Moses Ogedegbe, 30, of Useifurun community,
Ughelli South Local Government Area, who is suspected to be a member of the syndicate. The police are intensifying
efforts to recover more arms and apprehend other members of the gang.
In a separate operation, CP-SAT operatives arrested suspected cultists and armed robbers in different parts of the
state, recovering two pump-action guns, one Beretta pistol, one cut-to-size gun, and 24 live cartridges. The suspects
were identified as members of the Vikings Confraternity, and further investigations are ongoing.
The police also arrested a suspected kidnapper and internet fraudster, Festus Oboyo, 26, of Igbopa community,
Ethiope West LGA, and recovered a cut-to-size gun and an FBI impersonation document. Further investigations led to
the arrest of two suspected accomplices, Favor Omowo and Gift Omowo.

The Delta State Police Command has assured that it will not rest until all criminal elements are brought to justice. The
command has been working tirelessly to rid the state of crime and has made several arrests in recent times.
The arrest of the couple and other suspects is a major breakthrough in the fight against gun running and other crimes
in Delta State. The police have urged members of the public to provide them with credible information that can lead to
the arrest of other criminals.
The Delta State Police Command has also warned that it will not tolerate any form of crime in the state and will deal
decisively with anyone found to be involved in criminal activities.
