The Ebonyi State Police Command has denied reports of two persons killed in a renewed land dispute between
Umuobor in Akaeze and Ogwor in Ishiagu, both in Ivo Local Government Area.
According to Police Spokesman, SP Joshua Ukandu, the command has not received any formal report concerning the incident.
However, reports from other sources indicate that the disputed land has been a source of conflict between the two
communities for a long time, resulting in loss of lives and destruction of properties worth billions of naira.
The disputed land, known as ‘Elueke,’ has been declared a buffer zone by Governor Francis Nwifuru, and a committee
has been formed to find a lasting solution to the crisis. Despite this effort, the conflict has continued, with reports of
fresh killings emerging recently.
