A suspect has been taken into custody by the Lagos State Police Command in relation to a recent suspected murder that took place at a service apartment in the state’s Abule Egba neighbourhood around a month ago.

The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) agents conducted a thorough and laborious investigation before apprehending the suspect, 35-year-old Adeola Adewale, in the Oko-Oba neighbourhood of Lagos.

According to a statement from Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesman for the Command, the suspect, 35-year-old Adeola Adewale, was nabbed in Lagos’ Oko-Oba neighbourhood after a thorough and laborious investigation by State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) agents.

The statement claims that the male victim’s lifeless body was found inside the flat on March 28, 2025, during a routine inspection.

Investigators found two empty cans of malt drink, two bottles of water, and an empty syringe at the site.

While intense efforts were made to find the fugitive suspect, the body was later removed and placed in the mortuary of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for autopsy.

Hundeyin added that “during interrogation, Adeola Adewale confessed to administering a malt drink laced with a poisonous substance to the deceased, which ultimately led to his death.

He noted that further discreet investigation revealed the identity of the deceased as Mr Adebayo, male, aged 65 years.

“The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue to unravel further details surrounding the incident. updates on this case will be provided in due course,” Hundeyin said.

He noted that Olohundare Jimoh, the Commissioner of Police, reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to guaranteeing the security and safety of every state resident.

Additionally, the Command issued a warning that anyone found to be involved in illegal activity will be apprehended, closely monitored, and prosecuted.

According to the Command, it was notified on March 29, 2025, that an unnamed individual had been murdered at a service apartment in the Abule Egba neighbourhood.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that on 27th March 2025, at about 5:20 p.m., an unidentified female, in the company of the deceased, rented a service apartment.

“A few hours later, the woman left the premises in possession of the deceased’s car and other personal valuables, informing the housekeeper that she would return shortly.”
