President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to accelerating road infrastructure renewal as a
cornerstone of economic development and national integration. Speaking in Delta State, Tinubu flagged off the
construction of the access road to the Second Niger Bridge.
The 17.55-kilometer access road, which links the South-South Zone to the South-East, is expected to ease movement,
facilitate trade, and enhance economic opportunities for the people of Delta and Anambra states.
Tinubu commended the governments of Delta and Anambra states for their collaborative efforts in making the project
a success. He emphasized the importance of collective effort in infrastructure development, saying it requires the
support of all stakeholders.
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, praised the Delta State Government for its dedication to infrastructure
development. He highlighted the Federal Government’s broader vision for road infrastructure, revealing that several
strategic projects are ongoing or planned nationwide.
Umahi announced that the government had approved a 9-kilometer extension of the Benin-Asaba Expressway to the
Second Niger Bridge, as requested by the Edo State Government. He also disclosed that advanced surveillance
measures, including CCTV cameras, would be implemented to enhance security and sustainability.
