President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made key appointments to strengthen the leadership of two tertiary institutions in
Nigeria. The appointments, announced on Tuesday, aim to ensure academic excellence and effective management at
the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta, and the Federal College of Education (Technical),
Yauri, Kebbi State.
Professor Fatiu Abiola Arogundade has been appointed as the first Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of
Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta. Arogundade, a renowned nephrologist and academic administrator, brings
over 33 years of experience in teaching, research, and administration.
Other appointments at the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences include Dr. Obayomi Olukayode
Gregory as Registrar, Mrs. Adedokun Omolola Olufunso as Bursar, and Dr. Idiat Odunola Agboola as University
Librarian. These appointments are expected to enhance the institution’s administrative and academic capabilities.
At the Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri, Professor Sa’adu Umar has been appointed as Provost. Umar, a
professor of Agricultural Extension, is recognized for his contributions to educational development and academic
leadership.
Other appointments at the Federal College of Education (Technical) include Mr. Abdullahi Ahmed as Registrar, Dr.
Muhammad Yusuf Alkali as Bursar, and Mrs. Maimuna Mohammed Ahmed as Librarian. These appointments are
aimed at strengthening the institution’s leadership and academic programs.
