Manchester United ( Man Utd ) has announced a 5% increase in season ticket prices for the upcoming season, just days after revealing plans for a new £2 billion stadium. The price hike is part of the club’s efforts to manage rising costs and maintain financial stability.
According to CEO Omar Berrada, the club has worked hard to come up with a pricing package that is fair and
reasonable. Berrada emphasized the importance of season ticket holders, who represent the core of the club’s match-going support base.
The price increase comes after 11 consecutive years of price freezes, followed by two seasons of 5% increases.
Berrada noted that ticket prices remain lower than they were a decade ago when adjusted for inflation and are
comparable to those of other major clubs in northwest England.
However, the move has been met with criticism from fans, who had previously urged co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe to
freeze ticket prices. The Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) had also called for a price freeze in January.
Berrada acknowledged supporters’ concerns, stating that the club understands the importance of their backing for
the team. However, he emphasized that with rising costs and ongoing financial challenges, a small price increase was necessary.

The club has also removed some senior ticket concessions and is converting select seats near the Old Trafford
benches into hospitality tickets to boost revenue. This move is part of the club’s efforts to manage costs and increase revenue.
Ratcliffe had warned last week that without his investment and cost-cutting measures, including 450 staff
redundancies, the club would have run out of money by Christmas. The new stadium project, which was announced
the following day, is expected to cost £2 billion.
The price hike has sparked concerns among fans, who are already facing increased costs due to the club’s mid-
season price increases. Matchday tickets had risen to £66 without concessions for children or seniors.
As the club navigates its financial challenges, fans will be watching closely to see how the price hike affects their ability to support the team.
