Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State and the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, has encouraged President Bola Tinubu to rid his administration of what he called “excess baggage.”
He pointed out that governance, not politics, should be the main priority in all states.
Governor Mohammed claims that although governors trust the president to lead, some cabinet members’ activities are hurting his efforts.
He emphasized the necessity for swift action by saying the president must “throw away the excess baggage.”
Governor Mohammed remarked as the special guest during the commissioning of the 14.1 km Umuakali-Eberi Road in the Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He noted that the focus across various states should be on governance rather than politics.
He expressed confidence in Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s capacity to lead successfully and praised the governor for providing good governance in spite of political obstacles.
Based on his observations, he stated that he is no longer concerned about Governor Fubara’s performance or how the public views his government.
Governor Mohammed complimented Governor Fubara’s remarkable character and leadership style for his poise and maturity in managing the state’s political issue.
He said that Fubara is a perfect example of how political longevity is not a measure of political maturity.
The Bauchi State Governor further advised politicians to recognize when to step aside and allow the younger generation to lead, adding that Governor Fubara’s achievements make him more of a “field marshal” than a “general” that he is.
He urged Rivers people to support Fubara for a second term in 2027.
In his address, Governor Siminalayi Fubara expressed gratitude to the people of Omuma for their unwavering support, especially during the escalation of the political crisis in the state.
He attributed his administration’s seamless operations to the collective efforts of the people and the backing of key political leaders.
He described the Umuakali-Eberi Road project as significant for their development and thanked Governor Bala Mohammed for honouring his invitation to commission the project.
Governor Fubara reiterated his pledge to keep his campaign pledges, stressing that his goal is not to promote personalities but to cultivate competent men and women who can propel quick development.
Governor Fubara declared plans to replace Local Government Chairman Promise Reginald in the renovation of the region’s secondary school and medical facility as part of his developmental strategy.
Reiterating his commitment to providing excellent government, he also promised to rebuild additional roads in the region.
