The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives (Reps) has condemned the brutal killing of 16 Nigerians, mainly

northerners, by a mob in Uromi, Edo State.

The lawmakers described the incident as “barbaric” and “reprehensible,” calling for justice to be served. In a

statement, the Minority Caucus led by Kingsley Chinda, Ali Isa JC, and Aliyu Sani Madaki, urged the President to direct

the security agencies to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to book.

The lawmakers also demanded adequate compensation for the families of the victims, stressing that the government

must take responsibility for protecting the lives and property of all citizens.

The incident, which occurred in the last couple of days, has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation. The Edo

State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has announced the arrest of 14 persons in connection with the mob attack.

The Minority Caucus warned that if such incidents are allowed to continue unchecked, they could threaten the peace

and unity of the country. The lawmakers called on all Nigerians to remain calm and law-abiding, allowing the federal

and state governments to investigate the matter.

The incident has raised concerns about the growing trend of mob violence and jungle justice in the country. The

lawmakers emphasized the need for Nigerians to resort to lawful means of addressing grievances rather than taking the law into their own hands.

The Edo State Government has pledged to compensate the families of the victims, but the Minority Caucus insists

that more needs to be done to prevent such incidents from happening again.

The lawmakers called on the President to take decisive action to address the growing insecurity in the country,

emphasizing the need for a comprehensive approach to tackling the root causes of violence and crime.

The incident has once again highlighted the need for urgent attention to be paid to the country’s security challenges. The Minority Caucus has vowed to remain vigilant and ensure that justice is served for the victims and their families.
