The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives has condemned the brutal killing of 16 Nigerians, mainly northerners, by a mob in Uromi, Edo State.
The lawmakers described the incident as “barbaric” and “reprehensible,” calling for justice to be served. In a statement, the Minority Caucus led by Kingsley Chinda, Ali Isa JC, and Aliyu Sani Madaki, urged the President to direct the security agencies to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to book.
The lawmakers also demanded adequate compensation for the families of the victims, stressing that the government must take responsibility for protecting the lives and property of all citizens.
The incident, which occurred in the last couple of days, has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation. The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has announced the arrest of 14 persons in connection with the mob attack.
