Babajide Rinsola, the Super Falcons forward, has expressed her preference between the ongoing 2024 UEFA Euro tournament and the recently concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Following the conclusion of the 2023-24 European club season, fans have shifted their focus to Germany, where the 2024 Euro is taking place.
The former Liverpool striker, who previously featured for England’s youth teams at the U-21, U-20, and U-19 levels, has been closely monitoring the tournament.
On her social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Nigerian international compared the current Euro tournament with the 34th edition of the AFCON tournament and made her decision.
In a recent tweet, the English-Nigerian forward expressed her preference for the AFCON, where Nigeria, the country she now represents, reached the finals, over the Euro tournament.
Rinsola, who transferred from Real Betis to UDG Tenerife, received a national team call-up in October 2023 and started for the Super Falcons in the 2024 Olympic qualifiers against Ethiopia.
Despite her commitment to playing for Nigeria, the 26-year-old forward openly supported the English national team at the Euro 2024 tournament.
Meanwhile, Gareth Southgate’s squad progressed from the group stage as Group C leaders, securing one win and two draws despite a lackluster group stage performance. She praised the Nigerian team’s display in the AFCON finals.
