Shock and outrage have followed news that a Rivers LG Sole Administrator attacked by his own team is now in recovery.
Goodluck Iheamnacho, sole administrator of Ahoada-East LGA, was violently assaulted inside his office on Friday afternoon, authorities have confirmed.
According to the police, the attackers weren’t outsiders—they were led by his own Chief of Staff and Chief Security Officer.
They reportedly barged into the secretariat with around 30 others, beat him up, and forced him to sign a letter.
That letter was supposedly a resignation, and it didn’t stop there—they took his phones and vital official documents too.
The Rivers LG Sole Administrator attacked was later seen in a disturbing viral video, on the ground, being whipped and yelled at.
Police spokesperson SP Grace Iringe-Koko said the assault happened around 1:40 p.m. and is being taken very seriously.
The Rivers State Police Commissioner visited the scene and ordered the attackers to report immediately for questioning in Port Harcourt.
He made it clear—if they fail to show up, the law will come for them with full force.
Mr. Iheamnacho is now receiving medical care for the injuries he suffered, though doctors say he’s in stable condition.
In a radio interview the next day, Iheamnacho said he didn’t sign that resignation letter and knew nothing about it.
He sounded shaken but resolute, insisting the document was fake and the attack was completely orchestrated and unlawful.
The Rivers LG boss attacked story has triggered widespread anger, with many demanding justice and swift action from security authorities.
People want answers: how could a leader be brutalized by his own team, in broad daylight, inside a government building?
Nigerians are watching closely, hoping justice is not only promised—but delivered, quickly and without compromise.
