Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, has donated a helicopter to the Nigerian Air Force to enhance security in
the state and the Niger Delta region. The governor handed over the AW 139 helicopter to the Chief of Air Staff at the
Air Force Base in Port Harcourt.
The donation is part of the Rivers State Governor and state government’s efforts to support the federal government’s
security initiatives in the region. Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of securing lives and property in the
state and the Niger Delta.
The Rivers State Governor noted that the state government had previously donated security boats, but they were not
deployed to secure the lives and property of Rivers people. He expressed hope that the helicopter would be used to
enhance security in the state and the region.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, thanked the governor for his support and confirmed that the
state government had approved the contract for the rehabilitation of the runway and aprons at the base. He
emphasized the importance of collaboration between the military and civil authorities in strengthening national
