Sanwo-Olu appeals to Lagosians after long hours in traffic gridlock

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state have appealed to residents who were stuck in hours-long traffic because of the Independence Bridge’s ongoing repairs, urging road users to temporarily plan alternatives to decongest the road Multiple reports revealed that between Wednesday night and early Thursday, hundreds of Lagos residents were stranded in the area due to the Independence Bridge’s shutdown for repairs.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, however, came to the area Thursday morning to assess the quality of the job. He expressed regret to Lagos residents for the traffic issue and said that more should have been done to inform the state’s citizens about the developments.

Initially, the Federal Government had ordered ‘immediate reopening’ of Independence bridge in Lagos after hours-long gridlock. However, it was confirmed that as of the time the Federal Ministry of Works ordered the immediate reopening of the Independence Bridge in Lagos, work had already begun.
