Despite the rife of banditry and terrorism in some parts of the country and reports of criminal gangs holding sway in certain places, especially in the northern part of Nigeria, the Nigerian Armed Forces have vowed to more than ever take the fight against banditry and terrorism to their enclaves in a bid to free Zamfara and other contiguous states from the incessant attacks.

According to the Theatre Commander of the newly established Operation Fansar Yamma, Major General Oluyinka Soyele, during his visit to Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State at the Government House in Gusau, the State capital, he said the NAF was ever ready to use its superior advantage to rid the state of Banditry and terrorism.
He added that the terrorist should, as a matter of their only option, surrender and face the law or face death.
Over the years, Zamfara State in Northwest Nigeria has been the epicentre of banditry, and its people continue to face deadly attacks, abductions, and killings for over a decade now.
Reports in recent times have hinted that the ever-busy Gusau-Funtua Highway has experienced attacks daily from fleeing terrorists.
The theatre commander assured that NAF is more than ready to launch an onslaught against the daredevil terrorists, with the intention to send them totally out of the state alongside other troubled parts of the Northwest zone.
He canvassed for the support of the people, noting that such a gesture to the troops is very important to winning the ongoing war against the terrorists. He further urged the people to provide the troops with timely and adequate information that could help them flush out the terrorists from their hidden location.
