In a very sad event, three youths were killed by attackers in Rakok village of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on Wednesday.
According to reports, the police and Joint Security Task Force Operation Safe Haven are yet to issue any statement or response to the recent attack.
Issuing a statement on the incident, the Berom Youths Moulders Association, and signed by its National President, Dalyop Mwantiri, it was reported that the victims were gruesomely murdered in the course of carrying out their businesses in the community when the assailants attacked.
The association called on security services to address the breach and destruction of farm produce and denounced the incident that has been happening frequently in the area.
“The recurrence of continued killings, ambushes, assault on women, wilful destruction, and mass harvest of corn and other crops belonging to Berom native inhabitants by Fulani militants and criminal gangs in and around Barkin Ladi, Riyom, and part of Jos South Local Government Areas, as well as parts of Plateau State, should be stemmed with corresponding military action to avoid degeneration of the situation,” the association said.
In order to prevent the aforementioned regions and the Plateau state as a whole from becoming a scene of carnage like has happened in the past, the association called on security personnel, particularly those involved in Operation Safe Haven, to immediately crack down on the daily aggressions.
The group is requesting that the killers be investigated and apprehended, that compensation be given for the extensive damage and harvest caused by the recent theft of motorcycles in the surrounding area, and that medical assistance be provided to the injured.
In response to the recent incident, neither the police nor Joint Security Task Force Operation Safe Haven have released a statement.
