Vice President Kashim Shettima is set for a one-day working visit to Nasarawa State on Friday, January 3, 2025. The announcement was made by Governor Abdullahi Sule during the signing of the 2025 Appropriation Bill at the Government House in Lafia on Monday. Shettima’s visit will include a series of key official events aimed at advancing local development.
The Vice President is expected to attend the graduation ceremony of over 1,000 trainees from the Wing Commander Ibrahim Abdullahi Vocational and Technical Institute. These graduates, drawn from across the country, have undergone extensive training in technical and vocational skills. In addition, Shettima will perform the groundbreaking for the construction of the new headquarters of the Nasarawa Investment Development Agency (NASIDA) and the Multi Outdoor Court, a project funded by the World Bank with a $4 million grant.
Governor Sule also outlined that Shettima will oversee the distribution of key resources, including tractors to local government chairmen and rice seedlings to boost agricultural efforts across Nasarawa. This initiative is part of a broader effort to expand rice cultivation, with an emphasis on sustainable farming practices in Jangwa and Agwatashi. Local government officials will be encouraged to collect their allotted resources to support local agriculture.
The Vice President will also participate in the distribution of relief materials to flood victims and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the state. Governor Sule confirmed that the federal government had allocated N3 billion to aid the recovery efforts for those affected by recent flooding. Items for the displaced persons have been procured by the Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency (NASEMA) and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.
