The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, is scheduled to embark on a one-day working visit to Nasarawa State on Friday, January 3, 2025. The visit will focus on key developmental activities and engagements, highlighting the state’s strides in vocational training and humanitarian initiatives.
A central part of the Vice President’s visit is the graduation ceremony of 1,280 trainees from the Wing Commander Ibrahim Abdullahi Vocational and Technology Institute in Lafia. According to the institute’s Executive Director, Dr. Daniel Ewuga, the trainees have undergone an intensive three-month program covering over 40 skill areas, including welding, ICT, cosmetology, mechanical engineering, and plumbing. The initiative aims to equip participants from across Nigeria with globally competitive vocational skills.
In addition to the graduation ceremony, Vice President Shettima will perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Nasarawa Investment Development Agency (NASIDA) headquarters and outdoor courts. This project, funded by a $4 million World Bank facility, underscores the state’s commitment to infrastructure development and investment promotion.
The Vice President’s itinerary also includes a series of humanitarian activities. He is expected to distribute tractors, rice seedlings, and other agricultural inputs, alongside food items, building materials, and wrappers to over 2,000 flood victims in the state. These initiatives are part of the administration’s broader efforts to support affected communities and enhance agricultural productivity.
Ibrahim Addra, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abdullahi Sule, emphasized that the Vice President’s engagements demonstrate the government’s focus on improving citizens’ livelihoods and fostering development.
