This significant development was conveyed in a circular issued by the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Folakemi Fadahunsi who signed on behalf of the supermarket. The circular explained the reasons for the decision, attributing it to the general financial situation and challenging business environment in the country.
The statement expressed deep regret for the inconvenience caused by the closure, while also stressing that this is a necessary step for the long-term growth and sustainability of the company.
“We regret to inform you that Retail Supermarkets Nigeria Limited will close its Wuse store located at Novare Wuse Central Mall, Abuja, effective June 30, 2024. This decision was made following a thorough assessment of the store’s financial position and the current operating environment and we believe this is the best course of action for the long-term growth of the company.”
“Effective June 30, 2024, we will cease operations in Wuse, Abuja and your services will be provided to Novare Wuse Central. The mall store will no longer be required and please note that all existing service contracts for the store will also be terminated,” the circular stated.
In addition to announcing the closure, the circular states that the company will be reviewing its accounting records over the next 60 days to ensure that all outstanding balances are cleared.
“If your services specifically relate to Novare Wuse Central Mall Store and there are outstanding balances between us, we will carefully review our accounting records within the next 60 days. We will then contact you in due course to verify the amounts owed and discuss an appropriate payment plan,” the circular states.
The circular concludes by expressing gratitude to all service providers and partners who have contributed to the business operations. “We thank you for your business thus far.”
It’s been a pleasure working with you and your team. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns or if we can help you in any way during this difficult transition period,” he added.
