The National Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Dan Iwuanyanwu, has accused some top politicians and businessmen in the Southeast of supporting the continued detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Iwuanyanwa made this allegation on Monday while addressing questions in an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television.
He said the forces in the Southeast are afraid of what he described as ‘organic love for Kanu’.
“There are some top businessmen who are involved in businesses in Abuja, oil and all that.
“There are some top politicians who are of the view – and which is correct – that if Nnamdi Kanu comes today, there are people whose political career will come to an end permanently without him saying a word. Nnamdi Kanu has been loved by the people,” Iwuanyanwu said.
Rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, on Monday, along with other Nigerians, staged a protest in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), demanding the release of the pro-Biafra leader.
