Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to enacting laws that will improve the welfare of Nigerians. Speaking on Monday at the public hearing on two critical bills, Tajudeen assured the public that lawmakers are dedicated to fulfilling the trust placed in them by the electorate.
He highlighted the significance of the bills under consideration: one aimed at establishing the Institute of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Corporate Governance and the other designed to create the Chartered Institute of Business Educators of Nigeria (CIBEN). Both, he said, align with the leadership’s vision to foster transformative change in the country. Tajudeen emphasized that these initiatives would contribute to addressing pressing national challenges such as unemployment and business growth.
The Speaker explained that laws are essential for the smooth functioning of democracy, urging stakeholders to engage constructively during the hearing. He further stressed that the bills are particularly timely, as leadership, entrepreneurship, and corporate governance are crucial for Nigeria’s growth. He pointed out the importance of equipping young Nigerians with the skills needed for economic engagement and addressing the barriers faced by local businesses seeking to scale up and enhance their productivity.
Tajudeen also addressed the need for competent business educators, noting that the second bill, which seeks to establish CIBEN, is a step towards ensuring that business educators are well-equipped to train the next generation of entrepreneurs. By focusing on quality business education, the Speaker believes Nigeria can build a more competitive entrepreneurial ecosystem, leading to greater prosperity and stability for the nation.
