Former Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi, has expressed her endorsement for the women’s national team as they gear up for the Paris 2024 Olympics, as reported by Umpire Sports.
Taking to her Facebook account, Ebi, aged 41, shared the team’s roster and conveyed her best support to the squad.
“Best wishes, Super Falcons,” she captioned the post on Wednesday, showing her support for the team set to compete on the prestigious stage in France.
Ebi’s message serves as a source of encouragement for the Falcons, who are making their first appearance at the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament since 2008.
The team, under the guidance of head coach Randy Waldrum, comprises notable players such as Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, and Chiamaka Nnadozie, among others.
As they prepare for a demanding tournament, where they will encounter formidable opponents like world champions Spain, Brazil, and Japan in Group C, the Falcons are set to undergo training in Spain.
The team’s inaugural match against Brazil is scheduled for July 25 at the Stade Bordeaux. Ebi, a seasoned participant in numerous international competitions, including six Women’s World Cups and the 2008 Olympic Games, continues to hold a significant role in Nigerian football.
As the Falcons gear up for the Paris 2024 Olympics, Ebi’s support and encouragement are invaluable to the team. Her experience and leadership will undoubtedly inspire the players as they face tough competition in Group C. With Ebi’s backing, the Super Falcons are poised to make a strong statement on the international stage once again.
