The Federal Government has conferred the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) National honour on the Super Falcons players.

President Bola Tinubu announced the awards during a grand reception on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the State House, Abuja.

Each Super Falcons player will receive the Naira equivalent of $100,000 for their victorious WAFCON 2024 campaign in Morocco.

Additionally, each coach and member of the technical crew will receive $50,000, according to Tinubu’s official announcement today.

The President also awarded three-bedroom apartments at the Renewed Hope Estate, Abuja, to all players and team officials.

while presenting the national honour to the super falcons, Tinubu commended the team’s determination and thanked them for embodying the unshakable resilience of the Nigerian spirit globally.

“You inspired millions, especially young girls who now see proof that their dreams are both valid and achievable,” he said.

“You inspired me too. You ignited our hope, and we’ll continue supporting this generation and future female football stars.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) pledged ₦10 million each to all 24 players and technical team members combined.

The team captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, expressed gratitude to the President for standing firmly behind the team throughout the journey.

Ajibade said the WAFCON trophy belonged to every Nigerian, especially the girls who dream of playing professional football someday.

She affirmed that their ultimate ambition is to become the best women’s national football team in the entire world soon.

Over the past decade, the Super Falcons have won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations four times—in 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2024.

This historic tenth title cements Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football and inspires the next generation of aspiring players.

President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to uplifting sports and investing in the dreams of young Nigerian athletes.
