Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers State, has returned to the state following a two-week holiday abroad.
After a two-week vacation abroad, Fubara returns to Port Harcourt amid rumours that he may be reinstated and defect to the ruling All Progressive Congress.
Around 7:00 p.m. on Friday, the governor landed at the international terminal of Port Harcourt International Airport in Omagwa.
The governor is greeted by his aides at the airport in a video that captures his arrival. He was escorted to an SUV that was waiting and immediately took off.
After declaring a state of emergency in the state, Governor Fubara, his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly were suspended by President Bola Tinubu in March.
As tensions between the Governor and 27 legislators escalated, the President used militant organisations’ attacks on oil pipelines as justification for the action.
He also referenced the involvement of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
