Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Tambuwal, visited Jabo District in Sokoto State on Sunday to support residents affected by US airstrikes on suspected terrorist enclaves between the night of December 25 and the early hours of Friday, December 26.
Tambuwal advised residents to remain calm and continue cooperating with security agencies, describing the strikes as unfortunate and expressing sympathy for those impacted.
“Whenever incidents like this happen, people naturally become worried and concerned,” Tambuwal said. “Leaders must be on the ground to assess the situation, reassure the people, and maintain peace.”
He praised community leaders and residents for their calm response, adding that it helped prevent panic and escalation.
Tambuwal also noted that terrorism is a collective threat, saying, “Terrorism and terrorists are nobody’s friends.
“This is not a religious or ethnic war. It is a war of all people of goodwill against people of evil. We must not tolerate it in any form.”
The senator stated that security is essential for economic activities and freedom of worship to thrive.
Responding, the District Head of Jabo, Alhaji Aliyu Graba, thanked Tambuwal for his visit and expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and security agencies for their swift response.
He reiterated the community’s commitment to peace and cooperation with authorities.
