ANNABA, ALGERIA – Team Nigeria has officially arrived in Annaba, Algeria, for the 2025 African School Games tournament.
The 60-member contingent, made up of top-performing student-athletes from secondary schools across Nigeria, landed this week with confidence.
These young athletes will participate in ten exciting events, including athletics, basketball, swimming, football, judo, taekwondo, and table tennis.
Other featured disciplines include gymnastics, karate, badminton, and more—each promising fierce but friendly competition among Africa’s finest school talents.
The African School Games, organized by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), aim to unite youth through sports.
This multi-sport event emphasizes not only athletic performance but also cultural exchange and education through pan-African youth interaction.
Nigeria’s participation reinforces the country’s commitment to developing grassroots sports and building pathways toward international sporting excellence.
With solid backing from the Federal Government and the National Sports Commission, the athletes received world-class preparation and support.
Team Nigeria will compete from July 26 to August 5, 2025, representing the nation’s resilience, unity, and passion for youth empowerment.
The Nigerian contingent includes both boys and girls from different states, reflecting the country’s diversity and inclusive sports agenda.
Officials expect these Games to produce future Olympians and national champions, whose journeys may begin right here in Annaba, Algeria.
Speaking on the team’s arrival, a delegation official emphasized the athletes’ readiness to compete and gain global exposure through sports.
