The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is ramping up preparations for the next electoral cycle. ADC chieftain Dr. Ladan Salihu has explained why people in the party must urgently formalize their membership. He featured on ‘Prime Time’ on Arise Television on Friday. Consequently, Salihu stressed that the ADC lacks time to waste before 2027. He clarified that the directive did not aim solely at the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi. Instead, the call applies to everyone seeking the “change they deserve” through the party’s platform. This strong focus on structure defines the party’s approach to the ADC Membership 2027 drive.
ADC: “We Really Don’t Have Time to Waste”
Dr. Ladan Salihu outlined the party’s sense of urgency regarding the political calendar. He argued that the campaign and elections in 2027 demand immediate action. This leaves no room for complacency.
“The ADC is saying that when you look at the political calendar from now to the time of campaign and elections in 2027, we really don’t have time to waste,” Salihu stated.
The Membership Call Extends Beyond Peter Obi
Salihu confirmed the order for formal membership was a general call. Therefore, the party did not target the former Labour Party flagbearer.
“So, this is not particularly directed to Peter Obi but all chieftains and members of other political parties who would like to join the fold,” he clarified. He urged them to come in and understand the party’s importance.
Putting Hands on the Plough for Deserved Change
The chieftain emphasized that formal membership gives the party necessary structure and direction. Thus, the ADC seeks to position itself as the credible alternative for the next election cycle.
“We don’t need to be complacent,” Salihu asserted. “We simply need to put our hands on the plough to give the party a direction.” He added that the party must then “go out there and face Nigerians and convince them that we are actually not the party that would only give them change but the party that would give them the change they deserve.”
