US congressman, Riley M Moore has commented on a recent deadly attack by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in Adamawa State.
The terrorists reportedly admitted to having killed 27 Christians and burnt at least 10 houses in the attack carried out in February.
According to an X post by a security expert, Brant Philip, the terrorists, while admitting to the deadly attack, reaffirmed their call to Nigerian Christians to “either pay the jizyah tax, convert to Islam, or be killed, which they describe as a `fair dealʼ”
Reacting, Rep Moore in a post on X, lamented that the bloodthirsty assailants are now forcing Christians to convert to Islam or be killed.
The lawmaker urged the Nigerian government to immediately step up and address the matter.
He wrote, “Christians continue to be explicitly targeted for their faith in Nigeria.
“ISIS-West Africa is slaughtering Christians and telling other Christians they must convert or die.
“In our report to the White House, we made it clear that increased American support is contingent on the Nigerian government doing more to defend Christians. Now is the time for Abuja to step up.”
