President Bola Tinubu has appointed eight new permanent secretaries to serve in the federal civil service. The new appointments were made following a thorough selection process conducted by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. This move aims to fill existing and upcoming vacancies across various states and geopolitical zones within the federal government. The newly appointed permanent secretaries hail from diverse regions, including Abia, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Kebbi, Rivers, and Kaduna.
The announcement, made on Monday evening by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, revealed that the new appointees include Onwusoro Ihemelandu from Abia, Ndiomu Philip from Bayelsa, Anuma Nlia from Ebonyi, Ogbodo Nnam from Enugu, Kalba Usman from Gombe, Usman Aminu from Kebbi, Oyekunle Nwakuso from Rivers, and Nadungu Gagare from Kaduna. These appointments are part of efforts to strengthen the federal civil service and enhance the delivery of services to the nation.
This batch of appointments follows an earlier set announced in June 2024, which included appointees from Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Jigawa, Ondo, Zamfara, and other regions. President Tinubu’s administration is committed to ensuring that the civil service operates efficiently and effectively, as it plays a critical role in the governance and administration of the country.
In his address, President Tinubu urged the newly appointed permanent secretaries to dedicate themselves to their roles, emphasising the importance of diligence, innovation, and a sense of duty in serving the nation. He highlighted that the federal civil service should be a model of excellence and a key driver of the government’s development agenda.
