Despite being a vocal critic of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Buba Galadima, a top figure in the New Nigeria

Peoples Party (NNPP), has revealed that President Bola Tinubu helped his daughter secure a job with the Nigerian

Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

Galadima made the statement on Wednesday during an interview on AIT, sparking conversations about political

relationships across party lines. Galadima, known for his affiliation with the Kwankwasiyya movement and his

frequent jabs at the APC-led government, said his personal relationship with Tinubu has remained intact despite their

political differences. “We are friends and will continue to be friends,” he said, admitting that he can still ask the

President for favors when necessary.

The NNPP chieftain recounted a moment when his daughter used his phone to call the President. “She told him the

country is hard, and that I’m his friend. She mentioned she had just completed NYSC and was struggling to find a job

at NUPRC. Tinubu immediately responded, ‘Call Komolafe, give my friend’s daughter a job,’” Galadima narrated.

According to him, the gesture was so impactful that his daughter now plans to travel to Mecca in gratitude to God and

to President Tinubu. The comment has since gone viral, prompting mixed reactions on social media regarding access

to political figures and the optics of patronage in Nigeria’s public sector.

Galadima also made another startling revelation during the interview, claiming that his daughter worked for four years

under the Buhari administration without receiving a salary. He alleged that she served in Vice President Osinbajo’s office, where she was reportedly instructed not to be paid, a claim that could trigger further scrutiny.

While Galadima’s statement highlights the often-blurred lines between politics and personal relationships in Nigeria, it also underscores the role of influence and connections in navigating the country’s tough job market—especially for young graduates.
