Tinubu is Committed to Promoting Culture and Tourism—Minister

The Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s strong commitment to the advancement of culture and tourism in Nigeria. Speaking at the 100th anniversary celebration of the Okeagbe community in Ondo State, Tunji-Ojo noted that the President’s passion for Nigeria’s unique heritage led to the rebranding of the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy. This initiative, according to the minister, aims to foster peace, unity, and the country’s global image.

Tunji-Ojo praised the efforts of the restructured ministry in promoting the creative economy and tourism, which have been increasingly recognized for their positive impact. He also mentioned that the Federal Executive Council had approved the creative industry initiative, signalling the administration’s serious commitment to nurturing this sector. In his speech, he extended his congratulations to the people of Okeagbe for their century of unity and harmony, expressing optimism for the future.

The Minister also acknowledged the efforts of Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, highlighting his remarkable contributions to the state’s development in just 11 months. The community leaders in Okeagbe showed their appreciation for President Tinubu’s appointment of a local son as the Minister of Interior, a move that has brought pride to the people of the region.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, represented by the state’s Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Rasheed Badmus, emphasized the importance of promoting and preserving the diverse cultures of Ondo State. He urged traditional rulers in the state to continue showcasing their cultures, reinforcing the role of peace in fostering cultural promotion. He expressed satisfaction with the peace prevalent in Ondo, which he believes is essential for the cultural unity and development of the region.

Aiyedatiwa further emphasised that the Ondo State government has fostered strong relationships with traditional rulers, believing that their collective efforts are crucial to advancing the state’s cultural heritage. The government, he noted, is committed to supporting the traditional leaders in their mission to preserve and promote the cultural richness of their communities.
