President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja after a week-long diplomatic mission that took him to France and South Africa. He arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 9:10 PM, where he was warmly received by senior government officials, including Chief of Staff Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike.
Tinubu’s international journey began on November 27, when he traveled to Paris, France, at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron for a three-day state visit. The Nigerian President, along with First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, was welcomed by the Macron family at the Élysée Palace. The two leaders held a joint press conference, where President Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s progress in combating insecurity. During the visit, several agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed, strengthening the strategic relationship between Nigeria and France.
On Sunday evening, Tinubu departed for South Africa, where he co-chaired the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission in Cape Town alongside South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. The BNC session focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two nations and reinforcing their leadership roles in advancing Africa’s corporate interests. Additionally, the Nigerian president participated in the Nigeria-South Africa Business Forum, further boosting economic relations between the countries.
The trip aimed to strengthen diplomatic ties, promote mutual economic growth, and position Nigeria as a key player in regional and global affairs. Tinubu’s engagements in both France and South Africa marked important milestones in Nigeria’s foreign relations, with a focus on security cooperation, business partnerships, and regional leadership.
