A member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Justice Azuka, has met a tragic end. His decomposing body was discovered along the second Niger Bridge in Onitsha on Wednesday night, bringing an end to the search for the abducted lawmaker.

Azuka, who represented the Onitsha North 1 constituency, was kidnapped by gunmen on the eve of Christmas in 2024. The incident sent shockwaves through the state, with many calling for his immediate release.

The Anambra Police Command had launched a search and rescue operation, but unfortunately, it was too late. The combined security team dispatched from Abuja discovered Azuka’s body, bringing an end to the hopes of his family and loved ones.

The police have confirmed that some of those who masterminded the kidnapping have been arrested. However, the motive behind the kidnapping and murder remains unclear.

The Anambra State Government has condemned the killing, describing it as a senseless act of violence. The government has promised to work with the security agencies to ensure that those responsible for the crime are brought to justice.

The killing of Azuka has sent shockwaves through the state, with many calling for increased security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

The Anambra Police Command has assured the public that it will do everything in its power to ensure that justice is served. The command has also called on the public to provide any information that may lead to the arrest of those responsible for the crime.
