Ruud van Nistelrooy’s unbeaten start as Leicester’s manager continued after his team mounted a dramatic comeback against Brighton. The Foxes, trailing 2-0 late in the match, stunned the Seagulls with two goals in quick succession, thanks to Jamie Vardy and Bobby Cordova-Reid. The thrilling final minutes sparked wild celebrations as Leicester salvaged a well-earned point at home.
Brighton appeared to be cruising toward victory after a first-half opener from Tariq Lamptey. The Seagulls took control in the 37th minute when Pervis Estupinan switched play to find Lamptey, who cut inside before curling a beautiful shot into the far corner. It was a brilliant individual effort that put Brighton in the driving seat.
The Seagulls doubled their lead with another outstanding solo goal in the 80th minute from Yankuba Minteh. After collecting a long ball over the top, Minteh turned Leicester’s Victor Kristiansen inside out with a series of nifty moves before firing past Foxes goalkeeper Mads Hermansen to seemingly put the game out of reach.
However, Leicester’s response was swift and clinical. Just six minutes later, Justin James sent in a high ball that was deflected into the path of Vardy. The veteran striker, who had been quiet for most of the match, didn’t hesitate to dispatch the ball with precision, reducing the deficit to 2-1 and breathing new life into the Foxes.
As the match entered stoppage time, Leicester completed their dramatic comeback. Vardy, once again involved, teed up Bobby Cordova-Reid for a tap-in that leveled the score at 2-2. The Foxes’ late fightback ensured Van Nistelrooy’s unbeaten streak remained intact, while Brighton were left to rue missed chances.
