The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is seeking a reliable operations and maintenance company to manage its Warri and Kaduna refineries. The oil company announced this in a statement on its official X-Handle on Friday.
The Warri Refinery, located in Warri, Delta State, began operations in 1978. It is a complex converting refinery with a nominal distillation capacity of 125,000 barrels per day (bpd).
The refinery complex includes a petrochemical plant that began operation in 1988 and has a production capacity of 13 billion tonnes per annum (MTA) of polypropylene and 18,000 MTA of carbon black. The refinery will serve markets in southern and southwestern Nigeria.
The Kaduna refinery was commissioned in 1980 to supply petroleum products to northern Nigeria. It had a production capacity of 50,000 barrels per day.
In 1983, a second 50,000 barrels per day crude oil production facility was added for the production of lubricants (lubricating oils), expanding the production capacity to 100,000 barrels per day.
In 1986, the capacity of the first crude oil production facility was expanded to 60,000 barrels per day. This expansion increased the refinery’s current rated production capacity to 110,000 barrels per day.
