Mouthpiece for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has revealed that the party sent notice of its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to all members of the party, including former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
The obvious absence of key party leaders, including the former President Muhammadu Buhari, ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai and ex-Minister Rotimi Amaechi raised some questions.
However, Morka during a media appearance, noted that every party member was invited for the NEC meeting of the party without any exemption.
Governors of Edo, Benue, Ondo, Ekiti, Kaduna, Jigawa, Nasarawa, Yobe, Niger, Lagos, Kogi, Ogun, Imo, deputy governor of Ebonyi and former governors of Kogi, Kebbi, Niger, Zamfara, and Plateau were present during the NEC meeting of the party.
The leader of the party, President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shetimma, Senate President Goodwill Akpabio, and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas were also present at the meeting presided over by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.
Another key figure absent was the ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The NEC meeting comes a day after the national caucus meeting of the party at the Presidential Villa also in Abuja.
Some APC chieftains, including El-Rufai and an ex-National Vice Chairman of the party, Salihu Lukman had complained about the lack of internal democracy in the ruling.
However, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was eyeing the commencement of a reconciliation effort with a reconciliatory committee set up to look into major problems in some states controlled by the APC.
Tinubu stated this on Wednesday at a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee held at the National Secretariat in Abuja.
He commended the National Working Committee for doing a very good job while he appeal to party leaders in some states to remain calm.
