West Ham United is reportedly at the forefront of a race to sign Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, as the Premier League side aims to bolster its attack under manager Julen Lopetegui. The Hammers face stiff competition from Manchester United, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain for the 27-year-old’s signature.
Lookman had a standout 2023/24 season with Atalanta, notching 17 goals and 10 assists, and helping secure Atalanta’s first European trophy with a Europa League final hat-trick. His performances earned him a 14th-place finish in the Ballon d’Or rankings, surpassing notable players like Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.
With West Ham looking to strengthen their frontline, Lookman, a former Everton and Fulham player, has emerged as a prime target and could be available for around €25 million, despite his Atalanta contract running until 2026.
The Nigeria international, who has already contributed five goals and five assists in 10 appearances this season, is reportedly keen on a new challenge. West Ham views Lookman as an ideal addition to complement their attacking options, including Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus, and Lucas Paqueta.
The Hammers are keen to address their striker concerns, as veteran Michail Antonio nears the end of his career and recent signing Niclas Fullkrug has struggled to make an impact.
