A Professor of Strategic Management and Human Capital Development, Okey Ikechukwu, has said the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is not the owner of Rivers State politics and should not be warning people to steer clear of it.
Ikechukwu said this on Tuesday when he featured in an interview on ‘Prime Time’, a programme on Arise Television.
He was reacting to the friction between Wike and the National Secretary of the APC, Ajibola Basiru, a few days ago.
Recall that Wike had issued a stern warning to Basiru against interfering in Rivers State politics following his public comments in support of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Reacting, Ikechukwu said, “Wike is not a member of the APC, therefore, cannot be saying anything in the APC.
“Let’s get the fact. The head of the party in a state like Rivers was the party chairman while Fubara was in PDP.
“However, with Fubara as a member of the APC, he becomes the leader of the party in the state.
“Now between the leader and the chairman, I don’t know of any other locus of authority within the party. For you to have somebody who is not a card-carrying member of the party taking position and warning people to stay out of Rivers politcs, not PDP politics in Rivers, is that his private property? So, those are the issues on the table.
“If I was in the position of the National Secretary of the APC, I would be scandalized to keep quiet and allowing this to happen. So I believe the man has acted properly.
“Wike needs to know the difference between just supporting the president and being a member of the APC. The wretchedness of the PDP allowed Wike to carry this on for too long.”
