A committee has been established by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to address the Almajiri population’s surge in the city.
Residents were urged by the police to be vigilant about their safety and notify security services of any suspicious activities.
Olatunji Disu, the FCT Commissioner of Police, revealed this information to reporters during a security meeting that was held behind closed doors and presided over by the FCT Minister.
He clarified that the minister took this action to make sure security services are aware of Almajiri’s operations, particularly those related to welfare and education.
Disu urged citizens to be security-conscious and report any suspicious activities to security officials, even as he rejected enquiries about potential security risks in the nation’s capital.
The group, which includes the Department of State Service (DSS), Nigerian Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and others, has been given a two-week deadline to submit its findings.
The FCT Commissioner of Police revealed that five people had been taken into custody by the command for a variety of offences.
