The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has emphasized the critical role of women in achieving the federal government’s $1 trillion economy goal by 2030. Speaking during an end-of-year intervention program, she highlighted the importance of empowering women across all sectors to drive Nigeria’s economic growth and resilience.
The minister described the “Renewed Hope Year-End Intervention” as a reflection of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to addressing the needs of vulnerable groups, including women and families. She noted that the initiative, which involved distributing food items, is just the beginning of a nationwide effort to alleviate the challenges posed by current economic realities.
Sulaiman-Ibrahim pointed out that unlocking the potential of women in agriculture, creative industries, and technology can create transformative changes. “Women are the backbone of our society,” she stated, adding that empowering them strengthens communities and fosters economic progress.
Other stakeholders, including the Director-General of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development, Dr. Asabe Bashir, lauded the intervention as timely. The event witnessed jubilant scenes as various women’s groups expressed gratitude, receiving essential food supplies for their families.
