The Boko Haram attack in Darajamal Borno claimed 63 lives, including five soldiers, during a Friday night assault.
Authorities confirmed the Boko Haram attack in Darajamal Borno left 58 civilians and five military personnel dead in Bama LGA.
Governor Babagana Zulum visited the community Saturday, describing the killings as heartbreaking and a setback for resettled residents.
“We are here to commiserate with the people of Darajamal over what happened last night that claimed many lives,” Zulum said.
The governor stressed the need for more security support, noting the military’s limited numerical strength to cover vulnerable settlements.
He called for the immediate deployment of trained Forest Guards, explaining their role in safeguarding forests and resettled communities.
Senator Kaka Lawan, representing Borno Central, condemned the killings as crimes against humanity and pledged legislative collaboration with Zulum.
Authorities emphasised the importance of enhanced collaboration between the military, security outfits, and communities to prevent further insurgent attacks.
