South-South National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emmanuel Ogidi, strongly emphasized that the PDP presidential zoning decision will reconcile aggrieved members, restore unity, and reposition the party effectively ahead of crucial political contests.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Ogidi confidently explained that the PDP presidential zoning decision has received nationwide acceptance following the National Executive Committee, NEC, approval during Monday’s high-level meeting held in Abuja.
He highlighted that, because of this landmark decision, numerous estranged members are expected to return, thereby strengthening ongoing reconciliation efforts.
“We know that because of that decision, many members will return. Therefore, let us remain patient,” Ogidi emphasized.
Meanwhile, speculation continues regarding potential aspirants such as former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Anambra Governor Peter Obi.
However, Ogidi stressed that the party’s immediate priority remains the successful conduct of its forthcoming national convention slated for November 15–16.
According to him, the convention represents a critical platform for consolidating structures, energizing stakeholders, and preparing seriously for reclaiming national leadership.
Ogidi further clarified that the zoning decision resulted from weeks of deliberations, extensive consultations, and transparent discussions within the zoning committee.
He insisted that the PDP presidential zoning decision demonstrates fairness, inclusivity, and genuine commitment, all necessary attributes for strengthening credibility nationwide.
Moreover, Ogidi expressed optimism that the decision signals readiness to heal divisions, rebuild confidence, and reinforce trust among party members.
Therefore, he encouraged members and stakeholders to embrace the outcome since genuine unity remains essential for achieving the PDP’s electoral objectives.
