2027: Senate Caucus Denies PDP In Shreds Claims

The Senate’s caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is led by Senator Abba Moro, the party’s minority leader, has denied rumours that the PDP is collapsing.

It confirmed that in spite of recent difficulties, the party is still strong and cohesive.

Speaking to reporters in Abuja on Tuesday, Moro said the PDP had grown stronger, despite rumours that it was in ruins and about to fall apart.

Although he admitted that there are internal conflicts, he maintained that they were being resolved.

Every party has its share of disagreements, Moro said, but he urged supporters to be firm and faithful to the party.

The minority leader also warned that Nigeria’s democracy is in danger and blasted what he called the hasty celebration of a move towards a one-party state.

“As the biggest opposition party, the PDP is robust enough to accommodate all parties interested in forming a coalition. We are a renewed and vibrant party present in every corner of the country, and we are not averse to working with others to strengthen democratic values.

“The PDP should drive the coalition if and when it becomes necessary,” Moro stated.

Expressing optimism about the party’s future, Moro praised the efforts of the reconciliation committee led by a former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, noting its capacity to resolve lingering internal disputes.

The senator said that the party is addressing the few contradictions that exist at the national level. 

He also said that the PDP would emerge as competitive as ever soon
