The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Rivers State Chapter has officially endorsed Governor Fubara’s constitutional authority to conduct a free and fair election through the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), emphasizing the importance of civic engagement and the collective responsibility of residents to exercise their voting rights.

In a statement released by the NBA Rivers State Chapter, leaders underscored the critical role that voter turnout plays in strengthening democracy.

They asserted the legitimacy of the electoral process is directly tied to the level of participation by the electorate. “Voting is not just a right; it is a responsibility.

We urge all Rivers State residents to come out in large numbers and cast their votes,” the statement read.

The association highlighted that supporting Governor Fubara aligns with its mission to promote good governance and uphold the rule of law.

They praised the governor’s initiatives aimed at improving the legal framework within the state, which they believe is vital for ensuring justice and equity.

By endorsing Fubara, the NBA expresses confidence in his ability to lead Rivers State toward greater progress and development.

Furthermore, the NBA emphasized the need for residents to be well-informed about the candidates and their policies.

“An informed electorate is essential for making choices that reflect the community’s needs and aspirations,” the statement continued.

The NBA has urged citizens to engage with the electoral process by researching candidates, attending town hall meetings, and discussing issues that matter to them. They believe that an informed vote is crucial for the future of the state.

The association also highlighted the importance of maintaining peace and order during the electoral process.

They called on all political actors and their supporters to conduct themselves with decorum and respect for the rule of law. “Violence and intimidation have no place in our democracy.

We must all work together to ensure a peaceful election,” they urged.

In light of the upcoming elections, the NBA has organized community outreach programs to educate residents about the voting process, including how to register, where to vote, and what to expect on election day.

These initiatives aim to empower citizens and ensure that they are prepared to participate fully in the democratic process.

Additionally, the NBA is advocating for transparency and accountability in the electoral process.

They are calling for all stakeholders, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to uphold the highest standards of integrity during the elections.

The association believes that a transparent electoral process is essential for building public trust and confidence in the government.

The NBA Rivers State Chapter’s call to action serves as a crucial reminder of the power of the electorate. They believe that each vote counts and can significantly influence the direction of governance in Rivers State.

The endorsement of Governor Fubara by the NBA is not just a political statement; it is a clarion call for civic participation.

By urging residents to come out en masse to vote, the NBA reinforces the importance of every citizen’s role in shaping the future of Rivers State.

This election is an opportunity for the people to express their preferences and aspirations, and the NBA is committed to ensuring that every voice is heard.
