PDP’s Disciplinary Committee Promises Fairness to Restore Party Confidence

Tom Ikimi, the national chairman of the PDP’s National Disciplinary Committee, has articulated a strong commitment to the principles of fairness, firmness, and decisiveness as essential to restoring hope and confidence within the party.

In a recent statement, he emphasized that these core values are vital not only for meeting the expectations of the party’s membership but also for addressing the urgent need for effective national leadership that resonates with the Nigerian public.

Mr. Ikimi expressed optimism that the committee’s approach would foster a renewed sense of trust among the party’s supporters.

“We are hopeful that our fairness, firmness, and decisiveness will restore the hope and confidence of our great party,” he stated, underscoring the importance of re-engaging with party members who may feel disillusioned by recent events.

The national chairman urged all PDP members and leadership to provide the necessary support and cooperation to the committee as it undertakes its crucial tasks.

He noted that the integrity of the committee’s work would depend on a collective effort to uphold the party’s values and standards.

“It is imperative that we work together to ensure that justice is served and that our members feel heard,” Ikimi added.

One of the key responsibilities of the committee will be to address all petitions in accordance with the PDP constitution, which clearly outlines the ‘Offences and Sanctions’ relevant to party conduct.

Mr. Ikimi reassured party members that transparency and accountability would guide the committee’s proceedings, making it clear that every concern raised would be treated with the seriousness it deserves.

The committee is preparing to initiate its hearings soon. Mr. Ikimi encouraged aggrieved members to submit their petitions and complaints, either through the National Working Committee or through appropriate channels that will ensure their voices are heard.

This open line of communication is intended to cultivate an environment where members feel comfortable expressing their grievances.

The 26-member National Disciplinary Committee is composed of a diverse group of individuals who bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table.

Eyitayo Jegede serves as the committee’s secretary, and the team includes prominent figures such as former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, Olabode George, Margaret Icheen, Effiong Bob, and former acting national chairman Abubakar Kawu Baraje.

Each member’s unique background and perspective are expected to contribute significantly to the committee’s effectiveness.

As the PDP navigates a challenging political landscape, the role of the National Disciplinary Committee is more crucial than ever.

By focusing on fairness and justice, the committee aims to reinforce the party’s foundation and re-establish the trust of its members.
