Popular Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, has reportedly left Nigeria just days after his release by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Although he did not disclose his exact destination, Bobrisky shared multiple videos on his Instagram story on Monday morning, where he flaunted his first-class travel, saying, “See you soon, Nigeria. This girl bought a first-class ticket three times; that’s over 30 million. Raise the bar for this girl.” He jokingly commented on his passport photo, calling it “disfigured.”
This recent departure follows a sequence of high-profile events last week. On Thursday night, Bobrisky was prevented from boarding an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, intending to travel to London. He claimed he sustained injuries during the incident, which he documented on social media.
Shortly after, he was taken to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, reportedly for questioning over allegations that he attempted to bribe officials with N15 million to have money laundering charges against him dropped. He was later released on Saturday after he allegedly denied the bribery claims in his confessional statement at the EFCC.
Bobrisky’s legal troubles date back to April 2024, when he received a six-month prison sentence for naira abuse. Although he initially served time at Kirikiri Prison, reports indicate he spent only three weeks there before being quietly relocated to a private location.
His situation worsened in September after social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, released an audio clip purportedly showing Bobrisky discussing bribery attempts aimed at EFCC officials to dismiss the money laundering charges.
Despite his ongoing legal challenges, Bobrisky’s high-profile lifestyle continues to draw attention, both online and offline. His departure from Nigeria leaves questions about his next moves amid ongoing controversies.
