The Oyo State government has announced a fresh verification process for landowners and claimants affected by the Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project. The exercise, which will cover the Segment I section extending from Alago to Ajota, is set to begin on December 15, 2024, and end on December 22, 2024. This re-verification aims to ensure fair and accurate compensation to those impacted by the ongoing infrastructure development.
Moses Alao, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Print Media, clarified that the verification would be supervised by a team led by CP Sunday Odukoya (rtd). He stressed that landowners need to present specific documents for the verification, including a local government identification certificate, land purchase agreement, National Identification Number, passport-sized photographs, and bank details. Additionally, those representing others must provide a letter of power of attorney from the Ministry of Justice.
The verification will occur in batches, with claimants advised to visit the Ministry of Lands on December 13 to check which batch they belong to. The process will take place at the Islamic High School in Orita Basorun, Ibadan, ensuring that the compensation process is conducted transparently and accurately.
This move comes as part of the state government’s commitment to properly compensating landowners and ensuring that the development of the circular road progresses without legal disputes. Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration has prioritized infrastructure projects as a means of improving transportation and economic growth within the state.
The re-verification is a crucial step in maintaining fairness for all those involved in the land acquisition process and in ensuring the project proceeds smoothly. The Oyo State government encourages all affected landowners to adhere to the requirements and attend the designated locations for verification.
